ABOUT GEOEN

At Geoen, we believe the path to decarbonization runs deep into the ground beneath our feet. We are a passionate team full of innovation and engineering expertise committed to unlocking the full potential of GeoExchange systems to unlock the future of all-electric, resilient communities

We Specialize In:

Ground-Coupled Heat Pump System Design

  • Thermal Energy Network Planning

  • Agricultural and Controlled Environment HVAC Solutions

  • GeoUtility and Third-Party Ownership Models

  • Custom Horizontal Heat Exchange Systems

  • Feasibility Studies & Energy Modeling

  • Carbon-Sequestering and Moisture-Enhancing System Integration

Our projects integrate advanced horizontal and vertical loop field technologies, and incorporate climate-positive materials like biochar, which enhance heat transfer while sequestering carbon.

We’re also redefining how energy infrastructure is delivered—with flexible ownership models that allow developers to install geoexchange systems with little to no upfront capital, while delivering long-term savings and reliability.

Why It Matters

Climate change, grid instability, rising energy costs—these are not future challenges; they are today's reality. GeoExchange systems offer a powerful solution: stable, renewable, and scalable thermal energy drawn from the earth. At Geoen, we combine time-tested engineering with entrepreneurial spirit to bring these systems to life across sectors, from low-income housing to controlled environment agriculture.

Together, we are building a future where clean energy runs deeper than the grid.

  • Business Development

Ryan complements Richard’s deep technical legacy with a modern, market-driven approach. With over 15 years of experience in HVAC sales, project development, and heat pump innovation, Ryan has spearheaded first-of-their-kind installations in wastewater energy recovery and low-GWP central heat pump systems. A Certified GeoExchange Designer in training and climate advocate, Ryan is on a mission to make advanced thermal energy systems accessible to more building owners, especially in low- and middle-income housing. His work bridges the gap between cutting-edge technology and real-world affordability, helping clients meet and exceed decarbonization and electrification goals.

  • Design Director

Richard brings over five decades of HVAC and thermal energy system design experience to Geoen. As a pioneer in ground-coupled heat pump (GCHP) systems since the early 1990s, Richard’s work has shaped some of the most ambitious and successful GeoExchange projects in North America—including the groundbreaking 4,003-unit Fort Polk military housing retrofit, which set the standard for modern geothermal deployment. With expertise spanning over 700 HVAC designs and more than 22,000 housing units, Richard’s contributions have been instrumental in advancing energy efficiency, sustainability, and cost-effective performance in both public and private sectors.
